Welcome to the Scottish Cardiac Society website.

The society is committed to procuring the best possible level of cardiac care for the Scottish population. It provides an influential forum for discussion and advice on the moving fronts in Cardiology with particular interests in enhancing the national network of specialist cardiac care, ensuring provision of high quality services and equity of delivery. Education is a cornerstone of our activities and audit a developing area of involvement. I hope you find our website informative. We are very receptive to comment and are happy to be involved in discussion on matters relating to healthcare in Cardiology.

Cardiology Symposium - RCPE - November 2010

Cardiology is a rapidly progressing speciality, and this symposium brings together the cutting edge of new developments and exciting changes in this area. Expert speakers cover thromboembolism, acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, imaging and - at the frontier of excitement – cardiac regeneration. We also have workshops that concentrate on management of various patient scenarios, allowing opportunity to interact with various experts in the field. This symposium aims to provide a comprehensive overview of what's new and exciting in cardiology.

AUTUMN MEETING, 17th - 18th September

The 2010 SCS Autumn Meeting venue is Crieff Hydro Hotel on the 17 and 18th September. The hotel has recently undergone a multimillion pound refurbishment and is a family friendly hotel, therefore members are welcome to bring along there family if they wish.

Friday morning - educational session organised by, and mainly for, Cardiology trainees.

Friday afternoon - keynote address by Professor Bill McKenna.

Much of the rest of the meeting will consist of research presentations from our junior colleagues for which abstracts are required no later than Tuesday 1st June 2010 to Helen Elliott (h.elliott@rcpe.ac.uk).

Abstracts should be a single side of A4, double spaced using Arial 12 font with wide margins. Depending on response, some abstracts may be presented as posters.
